She explained she was at a stage in life where she wasn’t acquiring anything new, but something about this poppy thrilled her. I was truly touched by how much my piece meant to her and told her so. She responded, “Oh Karla, please don’t think it’s the drug implications of the poppy flowers that make me want this painting.”
